KXIP’S Inning in 37th Match of VIVO IPL Season 12, DC vs KXIP in Delhi

 KL Rahul and Chris Gayle started the innings for Punjab but Rahul couldn’t score more than 12 runs (1 four, 1 six) of 9 balls and departed in the 2nd over of the match by Sandeep Lamichhane. Chris Gayle played some a great inning but KXIP lost one more wicket of Mayank Agarwal in the powerplay as a result of which KXIP could score 50-2 in 6 overs. At one end Gayle kept the score board running but wickets continued to fall at the other end. Chris Gayle completed his half century in 25 balls and ultimately the great innings by Chris Gayle after scoring 69 runs (6fours, 5 sixes) of 35 balls comes to an end by Lamichhane who picked back back wickets of Gayle and Sam Curran on a duck. After 2 back back wickets Mandeep Singh’s 30 runs (1 four, 1 six) of 27 balls and Harpreet Brar’s 20 runs  (2 fours, 1 six) of 12 balls which helped the team to score 163-7 in 20 overs.

Sandeep Lamichhane was quite expensive but picked 3 important wickets for the team conceding 40 runs in 4 overs. Rabada and Axar Patel got 2 wickets each.

 Prithvi Shaw and Sikhar Dhawan started the chase well but lost their first wicket of Prithvi Shaw in the fourth over of the inning who scored 13 runs (1 four, 1 six) of 11 balls. Than the partnership between Sikhar and Shreyas Iyer helped the team to score 60-1 in the powerplay. Sikhar Dhawan looked in good form and completed his half century and made the target look too easy.  He scored 92 runs for the 2nd wicket along with Shreyas Iyer and in the 15th over Viljoen gave the break through by departing Sikhar Dhawan on 56 runs (7 fours, 1 six) of 41 balls. After Sikhar’s wicket DC started losing wickets at one end but on the other end Shreyas Iyer played a crucial inning and helped the team to win the match by 5 wickets with his 58 runs (5 fours, 1 six) of 49 balls as DC scored 166-5 in 19.4 overs. Viljoen picked 2 wickets conceding 39 runs in four overs and Shami got a wicket.
